About This Course
Would you work as a journalist if you knew it was a dangerous profession? If you knew that you could be threatened, physically attacked or even killed? If you knew that journalists in your country had been killed and that others are missing? According to UNESCO, 1360 journalists have been killed worldwide in the past twenty years.
Reporters Without Borders (RSF)reports 50 journalists killed in and 387 journalists and media workers in prison worldwide at the end of 2020 due to their work. Two-thirds killed in countries "at peace," some brutally.
This course will take you to eight countries in which journalists risk their lives to tell the stories others do not want told. You will learn about the climate these journalists work in, and the factors that threaten their safety.
